Daniel Lurie
At the helm of Tipping Point Community stands Daniel Lurie, the organization’s founder and Board Chair. Tipping Point Community, a nonprofit dedicated to identifying, supporting, and enhancing the most promising initiatives combating poverty in the Bay Area, benefits from his leadership. Having also served as CEO from 2005 to 2020, Lurie’s efforts have resulted in the mobilization of over $350 million to address housing, early childhood education, and employment challenges within the region.
A distinctive feature of Tipping Point’s operations is that its Board assumes all operational expenses, ensuring that every dollar contributed directly impacts those in need. Lurie’s influence extends beyond Tipping Point as he held the position of Chair for the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee. This role contributed to raising a historic philanthropic sum of over $13 million for community initiatives, marking the largest such contribution in Super Bowl history.
Prior to his role in founding Tipping Point, Lurie’s career journey included notable engagements with the Bill Bradley Presidential Campaign and the Robin Hood Foundation in New York City. His commitment to philanthropy also extends to his participation on the Boards of Directors for the Mimi and Peter Haas Fund and the Levi Strauss Foundation.
